Probably the vaguest remaster set you can make, given just the sheer scale of the card pool to draw from. And probably a weird logical jump from the last four remastered sets (one in paper, one in MTGO, two in Arena) just focusing on a single block, two of which also on Dominaria.

What do we need to sell this time? Probably an older feeling of Magic cards, with a few bit of the Dominaria return sprinkled here and there so the set isn’t completely worthless.

1 Dominaria preface

It’s probably too obvious at this point to say that Dominaria is Magic’s most important plane. It managed to really got Magic off the ground for a whole decade to find its fantasy voice with a lot of artifact fiction, totally distinct from science fiction not gonna lie. It certainly would have been preferable if we get another plane that got built from the ground up to a whole globe with a whole decade like Dominaria have gotten compared to bringing (and at times cramming) other IPs into Magic. With that being said, is it really because of the individual sets’ quality, as a whole?

Probably not. Here’s a really really fast rundown of all the Dominarian blocks from my memory. I thought about ranking them then again, these are ancient sets I have no actual experience on so who am I kidding?

2 Main set

We’ll be skipping the mechanics breakdown since old Magic has a lot of mechanics that are so dull they aren’t here. Onto the cards, this is certainly a draft set of all time, with a few more multicolored cards than usual, one Invasion block that really favored allied pairs and shards really come to mind.

2.1 Mythics

Each monocolor get three cards, Selesnya get one Judgement card (that’s what that set was about) and there are four colorless artifacts.

The monocolored section is a bit silly, let me walk you through it: Each color except red has a commander, each color except blue has an enchantment (imagine some blue Dominarian enchantment could really fit here cough cough), the rest is something like three big not commander creatures forming Naya, two instants forming Dimir, both about paying life and two sorceries forming Izzet, both about additional turns.
