Lorwyn and Shadowmoor was (and frankly still is) the pinnacle of esoteric Magic. Which is to say, it takes a lot to be understood. What do I mean by that? Let me explain. On one end of the scale, you got sets that let individual cards shine so that casual players get hyped for them and that’s kinda it without being too worried about the big picture. I think it’s pretty easy to see some examples of that style. On the other end of the scale, you got a sea of cards that individually isn’t as exciting but when you put them all together, they do form a big picture greater than the sum of their parts. Lorwyn and Shadowmoor is firmly the latter. And for that, with bonus point for living in the same Standard as Time Spiral, this (pair of) block(s) basically got WotC to realize they may need to dumb down Magic. And that’s how we got to today, where “fun and interesting are two different things”. Ultimately, this kind of design will certainly leads your game to be championed by some of the most critical people and hive minds on the planet. Ones that will surely keep biting you until you give them a return to Lorwyn and especially bites hard (as in still the harmful meaning, not the “eats up” meaning) on anything that dares to trample on this set’s release date.

The ground on this card surely says Trans Rights
